WXPort2005 "Day at the Bay", Kennedy Park, Somers Point, NJ
4 June 2005

Atlantic County held its second annual countywide festival on Saturday 4 June 2005  at Kennedy Park in Somers Point.

While weather did not cooperate fully for the early afternoon airshow, the event did have a wonderful display of aircraft from 3pm until 4pm as the skies opened up and allowed for the aircraft to take to the skies and allowed  the US Army Special Operations Command Parachute Team, the "Black Daggers" to perform their parachute demonstration.

The day started with crew races at 8am followed by numerous other festivities including a fly fishing demonstration and a 5K fun run.

At 11:40am, the airshow started with a 15 minute demonstration by the US Coast Guard in their new HH-65C Dauphin helicopter.   This demonstration, while under cloudy and foggy skies, showcased the new aircraft to the over 10,000 in attendance during this 2005 Atlantic County Day at the Bay Festival and Airshow.

At 3pm, the airshow resumed with Drew Hurley stealing the stage away from great Mitch Woods and his Rocket 88's Band with one of the best aerobatic demonstration of his career.    Following Drew's YAK 55 performance, Mitch Woods and his Rocket 88's Band continued with a short set and the airshow continued with the US Army Special Operations Command Parachute Team and their mass exit demonstration from the CASA 212 from Ft. Bragg, NC.  Following the Black Daggers were the Vultures Formation Team in their 6-ship formation.

Flying concluded at 4pm with the introduction of all of the members of the USASOC Black Daggers at center stage to a standing ovation by all of the concert and festival attendees.

The day long event featured some of the best local and internationally recognized musicians in the world.    Music started with the Terry Showers Gospel Show, followed by the Bubba Mac Blues Band.      Other music included Mitch Woods and his Rocket 88's Band, Roomful of Blues, and concluded with John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band.

Look for the 3rd Annual Atlantic County Day at the Bay Festival and Airshow to come to Kennedy Park in June 2006.
