WXPort2003 Binghamton Airshow, Johnson City, NY

Along with some wonderful weather for the region for Mid-July, the 2003 Binghamton Airshow welcomed well over 40,000 airshow fans for the one day event at the Greater Binghamton Airport in Johnson City, New York.

Headlining the performers was the USAF F-16CJ Fighting Falcon Demonstration Team from Shaw AFB, SC.   Captain Ed "Pinto" Casey" demonstrated the great characteristics of this fighter aircraft in one of the best displays of the year.   Along with Jim Beasley Jr. in the P-51D Mustang "Frenesi", they also honored our nation's veterans in the USAF Heritage Flight.

Great performances were also given by Ed Campbell in the SU-29, the two ship demo from the Firebirds in their Extra 300s, the Split Image Aerobatic Team, Sean Carroll in his Russian YAK 9, Drew Hurley in the YAK 55, and Kevin Russo in the SNJ Texan.   

Airshow fans were treated to a military flyby from the Connecticut Air National Guard in their A-10A Thunderbolt II  aircraft as well as warbird flybys from an L-17, a 4-ship of T-34 Mentors, a P-51D Mustang, SNJ-5, CJ-6A, and B-25J Mitchell.

There was something for everyone on static display as well.  From the large C-5A Galaxy from the New York Air National Guard to numerous F/A-18 Hornets and from the C-54E Skymaster of the Berlin Airlift Historical Foundation to a KC-135R Stratotanker from the California Air National Guard, there was a great variety on the ground for aviation buffs to tour and to see up close.  The display also included numerous warbirds and a NASA T-38A Talon.
