The Battleship New Jersey Museum
and David Schultz Airshows LLC teamed up for the second annual Battleship
New Jersey Aviation Day on Saturday 6 August 2005.
The event showcased the area's best aviation museums and numerous other military
related exhibitors as thousands came by to check out the day's festivities.
Greeting the attendees at the main gate was Area X51's F/A-18 Hornet simulator along with "Stubby" from the American Helicopter Museum. As patrons based through the main gates, they were able to see numerous re-enactors with exhibits including World War II clothing, equipment, flying gear, and radios.
Numerous
area aviation museum's were also present in the display area including the
American Helicopter Museum, Air Victory Museum, Yankee Air Force, Millville Army
Air Field Museum, and the Commemorative Air Force. Each one these
participants brought a unique perspective to the historical significance of
aviation as well as entertainment value to the day at the Battleship New Jersey.
The FAA William J Hughes Technical Center was in attendance with numerous
informational and education displays and handouts for attendees, and folks could
also learn about flying from Hortmann Aviation from Northeast Philadelphia
Airport.
One of the largest displays of the afternoon event was provided by the Central New Jersey Chapter of the International Plastic Modelers Society (IPMS). Nearly 60 feet of display area showcased the talents of numerous area IPMS members as they displayed armor, ships, personnel, and aviation models along the side of the Battleship New Jersey.
