2002 Dover AFB Open House, Dover, DE
25-26 May 2002
For the first time ever on the
South Ramp of Dover AFB, the 2002 Dover AFB Open House and Airshow took place on
25-26 May 2002. Along with
the nearly 250,000 airshow fans in attendance was a fantastic display of modern
and vintage aircraft. Except
for a little ground fog on Sunday, the airshow went off as scheduled with some
wonderful aerial displays.
We would like to thank the USAF
Thunderbirds, US Army Golden Knights, US Navy F-14 Tomcat Demo Team from VF-101,
USAF F-15 West Demo Team, the Dover based C-5 demo aircrew,
Aberdeen Proving
Grounds M1A1 Tank crew, Kevin Russo, Dale "Snort" Snodgrass, Fowler
"Big Dog" Cary, the T-34 Mentor Flight, Rag Wings and Radials B-25
Mitchell, the P-51 Mustang, the USAF B-2 and F-117, Roger Lehnert, and all of
the aircrews and many volunteers that helped to make this a great success.
Along with the static display aircraft were the aircraft of the AMC Museum. Their inclusion in this year's event helped to showcase the best of Dover AFB and its history. We appreciate Senator Biden taking the time on Sunday for the dedication of the C-133 Cargomaster.
The Stars and Stripes, Warriors and Hereos Airshow at Dover AFB showcased the best in aviation. From the World War II era Texan, Mustang, and Mitchell to the Korean era T-33 and F-86, to the back to back demonstrations of the B-2 and F-117, we hope that everyone enjoyed the parade of flight during the Open House.
